Deadly Houston hit-and-run crash on Westheimer Road; man killed

Houston police investigate a deadly hit-and-run crash on Westheimer Road on Feb. 2, 2025.

Houston police are searching for a driver who hit and killed a man in the street and then left the scene.

What we know:

The crash occurred around 11:35 p.m. Sunday in the 8700 block of Westheimer Road, near Fondren Road, in west Houston.

According to police, a man was crossing the street south to north – not in a crosswalk – when a vehicle going westbound struck him. Police believe it was a black SUV.

The driver kept going and didn’t stop to render aid, police say.

The man died at the scene.

What we don't know:

There is no description of the unidentified driver.

Authorities are also working to identify the man who was killed.
