The Bastrop County wildfire has charred nearly 44-hundred acres. On Wednesday, it was at 1,500.  By Thursday, the fire has nearly tripled in size.

Bastrop County officials say flames have destroyed nine homes.  More than 150 others are threatened.  400 homes have been evacuated.

National Guard helicopters hover above the “Hidden Pines Fire,” as it has been named, and dropped loads of water.  On the ground, fire crews fill their trucks, and struggle to get a foot-hold.

David Mohr lost his home.

"I was thinking, ‘it’s all gone,’ all gone, nothing but rubble, ashes, and bent sheet metal, and that’s just pretty much all that’s left." Mohr said.

Just four years ago, residents endured similar agony, and are once again showing what they're made of, vowing to start over and rebuild what’s been lost.
