CDC report: Gun-related deaths at highest point in 40 years

New numbers show gun deaths are at their highest point in 40 years.

The Centers for Disease Control says nearly 40,000 people died from guns in 2017. Of those deaths, more than a third were homicides. Suicides accounted for 60 percent of those deaths.

To put that in perspective, there were only 29,000 back in 1999. The new stats also include the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history at a Las Vegas country music festival.
