Candlelight vigil held for 13-year-old killed during Houston block party

Family, friends and loved ones gathered at the scene of where 13-year-old Angel Morales was shot and killed, to honor the young teen at a candlelight vigil Tuesday night.

Police said Angel was one of several people shot during a block party on Yale Street in Independence Heights Sunday night.

Loved ones paid their respects to the young teen by bringing flowers and balloons, and illuminating the ground near the scene of his death in candles.

Some of Angel's classmates at MC Williams Middle School remember him as a good kid that was well liked by everyone.

"He was great. He had a great personality. Everyone loved him. He was well known around the entire school, 6th graders knew him, 7th graders knew him, 8th graders knew him. He was a pretty great kid," said his friend, Luis Delangel.

Katrina Miller was at the block party Sunday night and recalls the horror as the bullets started ringing out.

"It’s hurtful because he's young. He was only 13. He didn't even get to live his life yet," said Miller.

Police have not yet named any suspects or a motive for this incident. However, investigators believe it may have been gang related.

If you know anything about this case, you are urged to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
