Blizzard Warning issued in parts of Texas, Louisiana for first time ever
HOUSTON - For the first time in the history of the National Weather Service, a Blizzard Warning has been issued for Beaumont, Lake Charles and Lafayette.
The National Weather Service Lake Charles office says their first-ever Blizzard Warning for Jefferson and Orange counties in Texas, as well as Cameron, Calcasieu, Jeff Davis, Acadia, Vermilion and Lafayette parishes in Louisiana will remain in effect until noon.
What is a blizzard?

The NWS warns that frequent wind gusts to 35 mph and snow are expected to reduce visibilities to a quarter mile or less. In order to be considered a blizzard, the NWS says those snowy and windy conditions have to last at least three hours.
What you can do:
Motorists are advised to stay off the roads if possible and use extreme caution if travel is absolutely necessary. If you must travel, keep a winter survival kit in your vehicle.
Winter Storm brings snow to Texas
