AMBER Alert: 7-month-old girl abducted by sex offender from Virginia gas station, police say

Police have issued an AMBER Alert for a 7-month-old girl they say was abducted by a man from a Virginia gas station.

Officers say Emma Grace Kennedy was taken from a Kwik Stop on Riverside Drive in Danville Sunday night around 7:55 p.m. The gas station is about three hours southwest of Richmond on the North Carolina border. Investigators said 51-year-old Carl Ray Kennedy carried a knife when he assaulted the child's mother at the gas station.

Carl Kennedy may be traveling in a gold, 4-door Suzuki Forenza with North Carolina license plate EKZ 5093. Authorities say Carl Kennedy is registered as a sex offender in North Carolina and is currently out of jail on a $250,000 bond for drug distribution.

Virginia State Police said Monday night that Kennedy was possibly seen near Seven Springs, North Carolina at around 6:30 p.m. and may be headed to Oak Island, North Carolina.

Emma is said to be in extreme danger. She is a white female with blond hair and blue eyes. She is approximately 2-feet-2-inches in length and weighs 18 pounds. She was last seen wearing a light blue onesie.

Carl Kennedy is described as a white man with gray hair and green eyes. He is 5-feet-8-inches tall and weighs 170 pounds. He has a tattoo of an eye on the back of his right hand. He has a skull tattoo and a wizard tattoo on his left arm. On his right arm he has a tattoo of a skull with a bandana over its mouth and a pit bull with “American bulldog” written underneath.

He was last seen he was wearing a brown, short sleeve shirt with gray shorts and black and white Sketchers shoes.

Police have not disclosed whether Carl Kennedy and Emma Kennedy are related.
