8-year-old dies after accidental shooting

An 8-year-old boy is dead after he accidentally fired a gun he found at a home.

EMS was called to the scene at the home on the 8400 block of Tavenor Lane at Cub Lane around 4:50 pm in southeast Houston.

Two boys were playing with a firearms that they didn't believe to be loaded. That's when one was accidentally fired, and hit the 8 year old in the head, killing him.

The guns didn't have a magazine in it when it was found.

Two 12-year-old girls were at the home at the time of the shooting, but were downstairs from where the boys were playing.

There were some adults present, but left to a nearby store to get food because the kids were hungry. When they returned home they found the child deceased.

The incident is currently under investigation.
