4-alarm fire in NW Houston destroys dozens of units, injures firefighters

A 4-alarm fire breaks out in northwest Houston at the Gentry House Apartments on 9001 Kempwood Dr. The apartment complex is in the Spring Branch area.

The call came in around 5:30 Tuesday afternoon and was originally reported as a 2-alarm fire.

At least three firefighters were injured while battling the massive fire.

Around 70 to 80 units were destroyed in the flames.

The American Red Cross has set up a shelter for families affected by the fire at a nearby elementary school.

No word on what started the fire.
