34th Annual Caesar Salad Competition benefits students

The 34th Annual Caesar Salad Competition, the longest-running culinary competition of its kind in Houston, was founded and is produced by the Food & Beverage Managers Association of Houston. The event is scheduled to take place on Thursday, Sept. 27 from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the University of Houston Hilton Hotel.

100 percent of sales from tickets to the competition benefit the Food & Beverage Managers Association Educational Endowments, which provides scholarships for students majoring in hospitality at University of Houston.

There was no Caesar Salad Competition in 2017 as a result of Hurricane Harvey.

Chef Oscar Mejia from the Westin Downtown Hotel demonstrates to FOX 26 News segment contributor and food radio talk show host Cleverley Stone how to prepare the salad that won him the Best Presentation award in the competition in 2013. Food & Beverage Managers Association of Houston president Randy Fournier describes and previews the event.
