Houston weather: Arctic blast could bring snow, ice, freeze next week

Hopefully you’re ready for the arctic blast or will get ready Friday or Saturday.

After a breezy day Friday with slightly above average temperatures and a few drizzles, cooler winds will kick in Saturday morning.

Arctic blast on the way to Houston

Weekend: Saturday won't be too cold to get some preps done, but Sunday is going to start to bite with wind chills in the 20s for the marathon and harsh winds for outdoor preparations.

Monday: The MLK Day holiday is looking very cold with morning lows in the upper 20s and low 30s along with wind chills in the teens!

Tuesday: This is the day to watch. Light snow and hazardous ice are expected to begin early in the morning, and it could stay slushy all day with high temps in the mid 30s along with a blanket of rain, sleet and probably some snow.

As of this morning, still plan on the good chance that many school districts will cancel classes for Tuesday and possibly Wednesday due to the threat for icy roads.
