A Heat Advisory is in effect for all of southeast Texas from noon to 7pm on Sunday and Monday. Highs will reach the upper 90s and low 100s, with heat index values around 106 to 110 degrees.

This Heat Advisory will likely be extended through the middle of the week.

Hot weekend with little rain

The heat wave continues into the upcoming week, with highs around 100 degrees or hotter. Most areas stay dry, but a few showers are possible, mainly northeast of Houston.

Tropical forecast

The Atlantic remains unusually quiet for late August, with no organized tropical threat to Texas right now. A tropical wave is expected to move off the coast of Africa where development may be possible as it moves across the Atlantic. We will continue watching the tropical wave train in the eastern Atlantic as activity typically increases heading toward the peak of hurricane season in September.
