DISCUSSION...

An upper level ridge is over the Southern Plains and is generally

expected to remain over the southern conus through early next week.

This upper ridging will keep most of the precipitation out of the

CWA except across areas along and west of the Upper Trans Pecos,

especially the higher terrain. There is a slight chance of showers

and thunderstorms across this area for the next few days.

Precipitation chances will diminish across the area over the weekend

as the upper ridge becomes more established over the region. The

GFS is showing an increasing chance of thunderstorms across the area

beginning on Monday as it indicates an upper trough moving over the

Upper Midwest weakening the upper ridge over the region. The ECMWF

is still showing the upper ridge over the southern states during

this time with not much chance of rain. Temperatures today may be a

couple degrees cooler than yesterday as increased moisture moves

into the area. Temperatures will generally range from the mid 90s

to lower 100s across the Permian Basin through the next seven days.
