FOX 26 Houston Weather Forecast
Air Quality Alert for higher ozone levels has been issued for the Houston area for Wednesday. Expect more heat and humidity with temperatures climbing to the low to middle 90s for the rest of the week. This is above average for late September. Above normal temperatures are expected to extend into at least the first week of October. Isolated to spotty PM rain & a few storms will stick around through the weekend with drier weather returning early next week. Tropical Storm Philippe and another tropical wave are being monitored in the Atlantic. But nothing is expected to threaten SE Texas through this week.
Tropical Storm Philippe continues to struggle but Invest 91L expected to develop soon in Atlantic
The National Hurricane Center has highlighted a disturbance several hundred miles west-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands in the central tropical Atlantic, noting that a tropical depression is likely to form in the next couple of days.
FOX 26 Houston Weather Forecast
Most of Southeast Texas received needed rain on Monday as a weak front crawled across Houston. That front has stalled just off the coast and will stay around for a couple more days keeping showers in the forecast. High pressure builds across Texas at the end of the week. Look for rain chances to decrease for the weekend and temperatures will continue to run above average.
Tropical Weather Forecast - September 26, 2024
Things remain quiet for SE Texas with no tropical activity expected to impact us through this week. However, Philippe remains a tropical storm in the central Atlantic with 45 mph winds and it is expected to get close to the Lesser Antilles and Puerto Rico by this weekend. By then it should weaken to a post-tropical remnant low. A strong tropical wave in the eastern Atlantic has a high chance to become the next tropical depression or storm over the next few days. Rina would be the next name for our next tropical storm or hurricane.
