Rina has dissipated but Philippe remains a tropical storm near the northern Leeward Islands with 50 mph winds. A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Barbuda and for Antigua. Philippe should gradually gain strength as it moves north over the next few days. Tropical Storm Philippe will stay away from the US but should be near hurricane strength when it passes east of Bermuda by Friday. The rest of the Atlantic Basin remains quiet for now but hurricane season runs through the end of November. So stay alert!

Following a hot weekend with highs in the mid 90s, expect more of the same today. A surge of moisture is expected to return tomorrow and Wednesday bringing scattered storms and muggy air. A cold front sweeps in by late Thursday and we should start to cool down by late Friday through the weekend. It's not going to be cold, but should bring drier air and overnight lows in the 60s.

There are two named storms in the Atlantic but one of them won't be around much longer. Rina is about to end its run as a tropical cyclone. Philippe is working hard to become the 7th hurricane of the 2023 season.

The second weekend of fall is here and it’s going to feel like summer again with highs in the mid 90s and only isolated rain. Through next week, we’ll stay hot, but should see a cold front get closer by late in the week. Rain and cooler air should arrive around Thursday or Friday and we could feel some 50s and 60s, but in the meantime, expect heat, humidity and a few isolated showers

Prepare for another hot weekend around Houston. Afternoon high temperatures will stay in the mid 90s on Saturday and Sunday. Rain chances are slim but not impossible one could find you with a brief downpour. A cold front is still on track to arrive at the end of next week. Rain and cooler air should arrive Thursday or Friday with some areas of Southeast Texas feeling temperatures in the 50s and 60s.
