Residents north of Houston are facing the risk of more flooding after weeks of heavy rains. Walker County Emergency Management Coordinator Butch Davis has more details on what residents should know.

Huntsville faces more rain after previous flooding

More heavy rain is affecting the Riverside-Huntsville area Thursday as residents continue to deal with the damage floods left two weeks ago. FOX 26's Jonathan Mejia is in Huntsville with a look at how the area is impacted.

This evening is a FOX 26 Storm Alert Day. There is the chance for very heavy rain which could lead to additional flooding along the rivers and creeks that are still swollen from the flooding over the last few weeks. The northeastern portion of the viewing area is under a 4/4 'High' risk for flooding. The Flood Watch for areas near & north of I-10 including Houston from continues until 7 am Friday. An additional 2-4" of rain is possible for these areas with isolated amounts up to 6". Most of the viewing are is under a Tornado Watch until 10 pm. Any storms that develop have the chance of bringing large hail, strong winds and even an isolated tornado. The severe threat will end late tonight, but there is the chance for a few showers to continue into Friday morning. Stay weather aware and download FOX Local on your smart TV. A flood watch is in effect from 1 p.m. today through 7 a.m. tomorrow. Isolated rain north of Houston this morning, then stormy beginning mid to late afternoon. Highs near 85.

We have issued a FOX 26 Storm Alert Day for Thursday through early Friday. Risk for multiple rounds of heavy rain and a few severe storms is increasing during this time frame. FLOOD WATCH has been issued for areas near & north of I-10 including Houston from 1 p.m. Thursday until 7 a.m. Friday. Additional 2-4" of rain is possible for these areas with isolated amounts around 5 to 6". Houston is also in a 2/5 severe risk Thursday with damaging winds, hail & even a low tornado threat. Rounds of heavy rain and a few strong to severe storms will be most likely Thursday afternoon through Friday morning. Flooding continues along the Brazos, Trinity, and San Jacinto Rivers. So these areas could start to flood quickly. Make sure to avoid any flooded areas and turn around, don't drown! At least we have a pattern change to look forward to this weekend and next week when hotter and drier weather will prevail.
