North Texas tornado kills woman, 2 kids

The death toll has risen to 22 after deadly storms hit Texas and several other states over Memorial Day weekend. Four tornadoes touched down just in North Texas and all seven deaths in Texas occurred in Cooke County, with three from one family. David Sentendrey with our sister station in Dallas spoke to a family member of the woman killed along with her two children.

Money Monday: Reversing denied insurance claim

After the storms we've had recently, many people are having to file insurance claims, and if you've had any claims denied it may be frustrating. It won?t be quite hot in Houston today, compared to Memorial Day. Highs today will be in the low 90s with feels-like temperatures around 105 degrees. As we head into the overnight hours, showers and potentially strong storms will move into SE Texas. The Storm Prediction Center has most of our viewing area in a 2/5 likely risk for damaging wind gusts and the chance for hail. The northwest portion of the viewing area is under a 3/5 risk. The timing of the storms looks to move in around midnight and clear to or east by sunrise on Wednesday. Stay weather aware and make sure to have a way of receiving severe weather alerts. FOX 26 Houston Weather Forecast for Memorial Day

Dangerous heat is expected on this Memorial Day. There is an Excessive Heat Warning and Heat Advisory in effect until 10pm. Feels like temperatures could reach up to 114 degrees. Stay safe in the heat- drink plenty of water, limit outdoor activities and check on loved ones and pets. Later this afternoon/ evening, there is the chance for an isolated shower or storm mainly north and west.

Be safe in the heat on Memorial Day! There is a Heat Advisory for all of southeast Texas in effect until 10pm Monday. Houston will see peak afternoon feels-like temperatures from 108-113 degrees. Late Monday afternoon into Monday night there is also a possible risk for some strong to severe storms, mainly in the north and western FOX26 areas. These isolated storms could bring heavy rain, strong winds, or hail. There rest of the week will see seasonal temperatures and a few afternoon showers/thunderstorms.

First HEAT ADVISORY of the year has been issued for Houston and much of SE Texas with the exception of our coastal counties. It will be in effect Noon until 8PM Sunday and Noon until 8PM Monday. Heat index values could be up to 110 Sunday and up to 112 Monday. Take it easy in the heat by staying hydrated and finding shaded areas. Also check your vehicle for your kids and pets before walking away. Rain and storm chances remain low the next few days but will gradually increase a bit as we go through next week.
