It's a hot weekend in Houston! Look for temperatures to park themselves in the upper 90s Sunday afternoon and most of the up coming week. There will be isolated chances for showers or thunderstorms but overall coverage will be low. Feels Like Temperatures will be in the triple digits so remember your heat safety as you are working and playing outdoors.

A hot weekend is on tap for SE Texas. Forecast highs will soar to the upper-90s with feels like temperatures in the triple digits. There is a Heat Advisory in effect for counties south of Houston. A few showers are possible this evening south of I-10, but overall coverage remains low. An area of disturbed weather in the Atlantic has a HIGH chance for development next week. Ernesto will be the name of the next tropical storm/ hurricane.

Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect for Houston until 8pm this evening with a Heat Advisory through 9pm Saturday. Heat index values could be as high as 118 this evening and as high as 110 Saturday PM. A few storms will continue, mainly west of Houston along a weak front this evening. Heavy rain, lightning and gusts near 40 mph are possible but severe weather is not expected. Disturbance in central Atlantic has a MEDIUM 60% chance for development over the next week as it gets close to the NE Caribbean. Ernesto would be the name of our next tropical storm or hurricane.

We are in the dog days of summer. Highs soaring to nearly 100 degrees today. There is another Heat Advisory in effect until 9 p.m. with heat index values up to 112 degrees. Take it easy today and drink plenty of water. We could see an isolated storm this evening west of I-45. Next week will bring another round of hot and humid weather as students across Houston head back to school. The National Hurricane Center is monitoring an area of disorganized showers and storms in the Atlantic. There is a medium chance for development next week.

Heat Advisory has been extended for Houston and all of SE Texas until 9 p.m. Friday. "Feels like" temps up to 112 are a good bet. Drink plenty of water, try to stay in the A/C and just take it easy if you have to be outside! Hot and steamy weather continues through next week with slightly better rain chances. Tropical Depression Debby will continue to dump up to 4 to 8" of rain over the Carolinas, Virginia & the NE U.S. through Friday. Another tropical wave is being monitored for development in the Eastern Atlantic. It does have a MEDIUM 40% shot to be our next tropical system as it gets closer to the Lesser Antilles next week. The next name would be Ernesto.

SE Texas is under a Heat Advisory today with feels like temperatures up to 112 degrees. Actual highs will hover near 100 degrees today in Houston. Stay hydrated and take breaks inside the a/c. Houston stays hot, humid and hazy for the next several days. Rain chances remain low at this time. Tropical Storm Debby made a second landfall in coastal South Carolina this morning. The slow movement of Debby will bring a flash flood threat to the Carolinas and Western Virginia. The NHC is also monitoring an area of disturbed weather in the western Atlantic that has a 20% chance for development in the next 7 days.

Heat Advisory has been issued for Houston & surrounding areas from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday with heat index values near 110 expected. Dangerous heat will stick around through the weekend with little relief next week. There will be a slightly better chance for a little rain next week. Tropical Storm Debby is offshore of the Carolina coast and is forecast to make another landfall overnight. Tropical Storm warnings are in place for much of the South Carolina coast with winds over 60 mph possible. Debby could still dump another 3-9" of rain with isolated totals near 15" the next few days over the Carolinas and Virginia. Debby finally weakens, picks up speed and moves into Canada this weekend. Tropical wave in the SW Caribbean now only has a near 0% chance of development over the next 7 days.

Even hotter weather is on the way for the rest of the week as high temperatures could reach 105 at times across west and north Texas through the end of the week. Locally, look for highs near 100 each of the next several days with only slim chances for rain. Air quality will be affected by ozone and some very light smoky haze. There is also some light ragweed pollen present. Tropical Storm Debby has weakened, but it still bringing the risk for heavy rain for South and north Carolina as well as Virginia today and tomorrow. Elsewhere in the tropics, everything is quiet for now.

We still have two big stories in the world of weather - increasing scorching heat in Texas and torrential rainfall across the the Southeast. Beginning locally, expect a hot, humid and hazy day with highs in the upper 90s, but with hotter weather building in for tomorrow and Thursday. In fact, highs across Texas will head in the 100-105 degree range not counting the heat index. Rain chances, while not zero, do remain limited. Tropical Storm Debby has become a prolific rainmaker after dropping more than a foot of rain in Florida. Today through Thursday, the focus shifts to Georgia and the Carolinas. South Carolina has already received an estimated 10" near the coastline and a lot more is on the way as the storms slowly meanders over the next 2-3 days.

Can you believe this? So far this hurricane season, we've had dour named storms and all four have made landfall on the Gulf Coast. Two tropical storms into Mexico, on cat 1 into Texas and now a cat 1 into Florida. Hurricane Debby is going to soak Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas with up to 20" of rain. Locally, the story of the week is heat! We will likely have our hottest days of the year so far with several opportunities to hit 100 degrees. Wednesday through Friday will bring highs of 100 to 105 all across Texas. There may be an isolated storm or two today and Tuesday, but it won't have much of an effect on temperatures.

Storms south of I-10 will begin to diminish by mid-morning. Temperature heat up once again this afternoon to the mid-90s with feels like temperatures peaking at 105 degrees. A few more storms are possible after 2pm, but coverage remains low. The heat continues this week with highs right back to the upper-90s and low end rain chances. Tropical Storm Debby is forecast to strengthen in the Gulf of Mexico before landfall Monday morning in the big bend region of Florida. Folks in coastal Georgia and the Carolinas need to be on guard as Debby will slow down and move toward the Atlantic coast bringing a lot of rain early next week.

Heat Advisory continues until 7pm this evening with heat index values up to around 112 likely. A weak cold front diving in may kick off a few showers and storms this evening and Sunday. Houston is not in the path this time so impacts are unlikely.

There could be scattered storms beginning late in the day on Saturday and into Sunday. The other big weather story will be the possible formation of Debby in the eastern Gulf of Mexico. At a minimum this looks like a rain-maker for Florida and could bring high winds from Florida to the Carolinas.
