United Airlines flight attendants protest staffing cuts
Flight attendants are often considered the last line of defense if there is an emergency on a plane.
Today we learned the airline is cutting one flight attendant from most international flights. United says starting in February, meals for business class passengers will be pre-plated on the ground which eliminates the need for a flight attendant.
The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA says “staffing is fundamental to safety and service.” They say fewer flight attendants mean fewer trained crew members to respond to emergencies, slower boarding, and decreased customer service levels during flights.
On the Factor to talk about this is Denny Wheeling from the Association of Flight Attendants.
