- Two suspects are on the run and two others are dead after a convenience store employee fights back during an attempted robbery. The bandits pistol whipped the clerk inside the store on Beechnut, in southwest Houston. The owner's brother, who was in the back of the store, grabbed his gun and opened fire. Two of the men were shot, and two others got away. The incident was recorded on surveillance video.
- A murder suspect, who was out on bond, is back behind bars after a SWAT standoff in southwest Houston.Police say Percy Hines threatened to kill a neighbor at his condo on Holly Hall St., but that neighbor was an off-duty officer who called the district attorney.A warrant for Hines’ arrest was issued, and after a short standoff, Hines was taken into custody early this morning and charged with felony retaliation
- Closing arguments are underway in the trial of the Colorado theater shooter, James Holmes.Prosecutors say, Holmes is a cold, calculating killer, but the defense says, he was so overcome by psychosis that he could no longer tell right from wrong when he entered a crowded movie theater and opened fire nearly three years ago.12 people were killed and 70 others wounded.Jury deliberations are set to begin tomorrow.
