Texas high schools are required to register voters - but do they?

Texas has a little-known state law that requires high schools to register eligible students to vote twice a year.

That means about 340,000 young people should be given the opportunity to register to vote in their senior year of high school.

However, in 2017, the Texas Civil Rights Project reported only 6 percent of schools in Texas requested voter registration forms from the Secretary of State leading up to the 2016 election.
