Texans owner quoted saying he regrets apologizing for ‘inmates' remark

Last year, Texans owner Bob McNair faced backlash for talking about national anthem protests at an NFL owners meeting. He said, "We can't have the inmates running the prison."

Several Texans players walked out of practice in protest.

McNair apologized for the comment. But in a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, McNair is quoted as saying, "the main thing I regret is apologizing. I really didn't have anything to apologize for."

He went on to say the “inmates” he was referring to at the time were league officials.
