A teenager suffered a gunshot wound at a home in Atascocita Saturday afternoon.
Around 3 p.m., deputies of Pct. 4 responded to a home in the 18800 block of Atascocita Shore Dr., where they found a 16-year-old male that suffered a gunshot wound to the head.
Initially, deputies were told that the victim shot himself. Later reports confirmed that the victim was shot by another 16-year-old at the residence. The 16-year-old suspect fled the scene with the gun.
Sargeant Ben Beall said that since the suspect fled the scene, it does rule out that the shooting was an accident.
Deputies interviewed 5-6 other juvenile witnesses at the scene, and are still attempting to locate the 16-year-old suspect.
The victim, suspect and witnesses all go to Atascocita High School together.
The 16-year-old victim was transported via Life Flight to Memorial Hermann hospital .
The victim is listed in very critical condition.
