Teen killed in southwest Houston drive-by shooting

HOUSTON, Texas (FOX 26) — A shooting in southwest Houston leaves one teen dead and another teen recovering in the hospital. The shooting was reported at Marian Park on South Gessner Road near Fighting Colt Street.

Two males between 17 and 18 years old were playing basketball at the court in Marian Park when gunshots were fired.

Houston police say at around 6:15 p.m., a car pulled up and multiple shots were fired at the boys. They both tried to run for help to a nearby apartment complex, but one of them fell to the ground and died at the scene. The other teen, who police said was shot in the hip, was taken to an area hospital and is in stable condition. Officers are at the hospital with that teen hoping to learn more information about the shooting.

There was a lot of activity taking place in the park and there was a volleyball practice at the Marian Park Community Center. Police are hoping to speak to everyone present.
