Suspect in custody after SWAT standoff in southeast Houston

Houston police say a suspect is in custody after a SWAT standoff in southeast Houston.

Police responded to the scene at 6200 Belmark in southeast Houston around 4:15 p.m. where they say a suspect was barricaded in a home.

HPD says this all began yesterday when police received a call from a person saying a neighbor was firing a gun inside his home and a bullet went into their house. Around 4:15 p.m. today, police say they received another call from a suspect who said a neighbor was in his backyard with a gun, and when they exchanged words, the suspect fired a gun in the air and went back inside.

Police say SWAT was called and as officers were about to make their approach, the suspect gave up and came out.
