River Oaks lights out on full display

HOUSTON (FOX 26) - It’s that time of year again when holiday lights are out on full display. In River Oaks, as the sun sets, more and more cars are seen driving through the neighborhood. Everyone stops to see and take pictures of the displays and decor.

Jane Bres is one of many residents that have put up lights for years now, and for her, the holidays are full of fond memories.

“There’s a lot of foot traffic and I’ve had two people come and knock on the door and ask if they could get engaged under my lights. And one really cute young man asked if he could put notes in the tree and the lights saying 'will you marry me' and he did and she said yes,” says Jan Bres.

“It’s just something we do for the community, you know. There’s a lot of people that can’t or don’t want to go to the mall or can’t afford the pictures, and so here they can come see Santa, take some great photos and it doesn’t cost anything,” says Leticia Trauber.
