Record turnout for Houstonians in Early Voting

HOUSTON, TX - It's day four of the early voting period, and voters in Harris County continue to come out in record numbers. There's still 8 days left for early voting, 10 percent of the 2 million registered voters here in Harris county have already casts their ballots breaking past records for early voting. On Monday, over 129 thousand people turned out to vote, that number also includes mail in ballots.

The numbers dropped a little bit on Tuesday with 76 thousand voters, and yesterday the numbers went up with 81 thousand. The polls are open until 6pm tonight. So get to any of the 46 polling sites early if you don't wish to wait in those long lines. Also remember your photo ID or election ID certificate. If you don't have an ID you'll have to sign a sworn statement and bring documents with you such as a bank statement or birth certificate. If you can't make it the sites you can request a ballot by mail, but the deadline to have the application in is tomorrow. Voters say they're not surprised by the high voter turnout.

One of the issues Houstonians noticed on Thursday morning is that many people left because they thought the polls opened at 7.  If you plan on voting tomorrow, the polls open at 7am Saturday they open at 7am, Sunday at 1pm, and then the rest of next week.
