Police: Woman assaulted, carjacked in southeast Houston

HOUSTON (FOX 26) - Police a woman was taken to the hospital after being assaulted and carjacked in southeast Houston.

According to officers, the 29-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl, who had been reported as a runaway, arrived at a house on Axilda around 1 a.m. and several people came out of the house. Police say the people assaulted the 29-year-old woman and took her vehicle.

The woman was taken to the hospital with injury to her jaw. She is expected to survive.

Investigators are trying to determine what lead up to the assault. Police say three people have been detained.
