Police release new video in hit-and-run death of Houston marathoner Lilia Vazquez
Houston - Authorities have released new surveillance footage showing a dark-colored pickup truck that they believe was involved in the hit-and-run crash that killed well-known Houston marathoner Lilia Vazquez earlier this month.
The Houston Police Department released the video on Wednesday, showing a black or dark pickup truck near the scene of the incident. Investigators believe the vehicle struck Vazquez, 61, on the morning of December 13 as she was running westbound along Westpark near Jeanetta at approximately 6:40 a.m.
Vazquez, a mother of two and a beloved member of Houston’s running community, was a talented marathoner and was scheduled to participate as an elite runner in the upcoming Houston Marathon.

"She didn't deserve that. It's so cruel, so unnecessarily cruel. I would never think that would happen to someone so great," Mariana Vazquez said.
