Police: Man trying to beat train dies after train slams into truck

HOUSTON (FOX 2) - A man is dead after police say he tried to beat a train in southwest Houston. It happened at the railroad crossing on Fondren at Main on Saturday night.

A man in a pickup truck was southbound on Fondren when he approached the tracks. Officers say he went past a car stopped in front of him and then around the warning signals. The train slammed into him, and he died at the scene.
