Friday night's protest was supposed to be in the Galleria area Friday night but Houston  members of the Black Lives Matter movement opted instead to hold a press conference at Discovery Green.

Speakers were emotional as mothers described fear that police stops could end violently for their adult children.

As protestor Navita Johnson put it, "This is not a kumbya moment."

Ashton P. Woods with Black Lives Matter Houston said his group does not condone violence and they are not violent people they are just seeking change.

After the press conference more than a hundred protestors walked several blocks to city hall under the watchful eye of police.

In all the protest lasted a little over 2 hours.

Judging by comments made by some of the speakers we can expect to see more of these protests at city hall in the future.
