New Precinct 6 Constable Heliodoro Martinez hosts first town hall meeting

New Precinct 6 Constable Heliodoro Martinez is already making waves in the East End as he wrapped up hosting his first town hall meeting at the Houston Community College Felix Fraga campus.

Martinez was appointed to the role in November by the Harris County Commissioners Court after former constable Victor Trevino pleaded guilty to felony financial misconduct and a judge sentenced him to ten years of probation.

Martinez will serve the rest of Trevino's term until November 2016.

Martinez is already pledging that his time here be very short, but effective. He says he will not seek reelection in 2016, and plans to focus all of his efforts on helping to turn things around in precinct 6.

"We've started the list and we've started going down the list," he said during Thursdays Town Hall meeting. "We are addressing issue by issue by issue. At the same time we are coaching our deputies, our staff, on the new ways in which we expect them to move forward"
