New AL-Coushatta entertainment complex opens soon in Houston
HOUSTON (FOX 26) - Don't call it gambling or a casino - but there's one now closer than ever to the city of Houston.
The Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas has opened the Naskila Entertainment Center on their reservation. It's just outside of Livingston.
There are more than 300 bingo machines that are basically like slot machines with cash payoffs.
This is the tribe's second facility. Their first 'casino' opened in 2002, but the state shut it down called it gambling.
Now the tribe has adjusted to video bingo.
The facility has generated 200 jobs for members of the tribe and community.
While Naskila is open for business now, the grand opening is next weekend.
