The Federal Emergency Management Agency, in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission, is reminding the public that it will conduct a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System on Wednesday.
The test will be sent to television and radio stations beginning at 1:20 p.m. CT. The test will not be sent to cell phones.
The test will last about one minute and will be similar to a regular monthly EAS test. The public does not need to take any action.
According to FEMA, this year's test will evaluate the readiness of the national alerting capability in the absence of internet connectivity.
