Mom shot after gunman opens fire into apartment where children were sleeping

HOUSTON, TX - Investigators are searching for a gunman who shot into an apartment, hitting a mom in the leg while her four young children were sleeping right next to them, on the floor. The shooting incident occurred at 1:30 a.m. at The Gulfton Apartments on 7600 block of Gulfton Drive. 

Authorities say that someone reportedly walked up to the family's apartment window on Gulfton Drive and began shooting. The shooter was then seen leaving the area in a white sedan.  Police are looking at surveillance video to try and identify the gunman. The young children were uninjured.  "The bullets flew right over them and didn't strike them," said Lt. Larry Crowson with HPD.
