Man injured at Friendswood gun range after gun malfunction

The Harris County Sheriff's Office says a man was injured at a gun range when the gun he was firing malfunctioned and struck him.

It happened around 2:40 p.m. Sunday at the Best Shot Range in Friendswood. Deputies say the man was shooting the handgun when a malfunction occurred as he tried to clear the weapon and the gun discharged, striking him.

Deputies say the man was transported to a local hospital in good condition.

Best Shot Range posted this statement on Facebook:

First and foremost, we ask for everyone's patience and prayers with regard to the accident that occurred at the Range today. All safety measures were taken. As an investigation is currently underway, we will not make a further statement on the matter until it is appropriate.

The Range is closed for business until further notice.
