Longest-serving Texas Police Chief Bonny Krahn retires
Police Chief Bonny Krahn is the longest serving police chief in Texas. His big sendoff was Tuesday night at the Stafford Center
After 42 years as the police chief and 45 on the force he is retiring. Krahn has 49 people in his department but he said back in the 1970's there were only 4 officers in the city.
He could have retired 20 years ago but said he had nothing else to do, so why not keep going?
Krahn said the decision was difficult with police and community relations in a strained state. He said it’s hard to leave his department knowing he could still make a difference
Krahn said he looks forward to the next chapter in his life, spending more time with his wife and grandchildren.
