Legislation battling bestiality

A Texas state lawmaker took on an issue she likely never thought she would have to tackle – bestiality.

State Representative Carol Alvarado was crucial in pushing House Bill 1087 and Senate Bill 1232. The law would ban Texans from having sex with animals.

This became necessary after Former Harris County Deputy Andrew Craig Sustaita was arrested last year after a colleague found a video of him engaging in a sex act with a small dog. Representative Alvarado’s legislation was used by prosecutors to go after the deputy.
