Jack-in-the-Box shooting leaves 1 suspect dead, 2 injured

Police say robbery suspects ambushed a Jack-in-the-Box in Northwest Harris County late Monday. Officers had been monitoring a ring of suspects for robberies in Harris County.  Investigators spotted a vehicle that  had been wanted in robberies at a Jack-in-the-Box on 6900 block of Highway 6 near FM 529, and that's when they apprehended them.

According to initial reports, several masked suspects entered the the Jack-in-the-Box and then pulled out a long rifle and handguns. HPD officers then moved in and took aim at suspects while the robbery was in progress.  None of the officers or the restaurant employees were hurt during the confrontation.  One suspect was killed and two others wounded.

HPD's Chief Art Acevedo said, "One of the things that we're doing is really focusing on violent crime in Houston. We've got some issues with these robbers that go around our city coming and doing violent takeovers of these restaurants."
