Houston traffic alert: Total closure on portion of I-69 to occur starting Friday
HOUSTON - The Texas Department of Transportation announced a full closure of Interstate 69 northbound main lanes at Kelley Street for two consecutive weekends to facilitate essential bridge repairs in Houston.

What we know:
The closure schedule will be from Friday, February 7 at 9 p.m. until Monday, February 10 at 5 a.m. Then the following weekend, the same closures will be in effect from Friday, February 14 at 9 p.m. to Monday, February 17 at 5 a.m.
Detour Information:
- I-69 northbound main lane traffic: Detour via I-610 Eastbound, exit at Mesa Drive, U-turn at Mesa Drive, follow I-610 Westbound frontage road, re-enter I-69 Northbound at the next available ramp.
- I-610 East/Westbound to I-69 northbound: Utilize designated detour routes based on origin point.
- Hardy Toll Road/SP 548 southbound to I-610 Eastbound: Detour via I-610 Westbound, exit at N. Main Street, and re-enter I-610 Eastbound.

Safety in construction zones:
Detour signs will be in place throughout the closure. Motorists are advised to expect significant delays and seek alternate routes during the closure periods. Law enforcement will also be present to assist with traffic control, officials said. Drivers are asked to drive cautiously through work zones and be mindful of work crews and equipment.
