Katy Freeway bridge demolition prompts weekend street closure in Houston

Studemont Street in downtown Houston will be closed this weekend as the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) continues demolishing the bridge on Katy Freeway.

Demolition for the Katy Freeway westbound Studemont Street Bridge will continue from 6 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday. During that time, TxDOT will close north and southbound traffic on Studemont.

Alternate Routes

What you can do:

If you're driving north on Studemont near the demolition site, you'll have to turn left onto Washington Avenue, turn right on Yale Street, then take another right on 11th Street to get back onto Studemont.

If you're going south, you'll have to turn onto the Katy Frewway feeder road and make a U-turn at the Heights Boulevard intersection.

TxDOT says drivers should expect delays. You should also either find another route or follow any detour signs.
