Houston City Council District C election: Polling locations, candidates

A special election is being held Saturday to fill the vacant Houston City Council seat in District C.

The candidate who is elected will finish out the term that expires on Jan. 1, 2028.

Who can vote?

Only registered voters who live in Houston’s Council District C can vote.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Eligible voters can vote at any of the election day vote centers.

If one single candidate does not receive more than 50% of the vote, the race will head to a runoff between the two candidates who received the most votes.

Why is a special election being held?

The seat was left vacant when Council Member Abbie Kamin decided to run for Harris County attorney.
