Houston activates Heat Emergency Plan

The City of Houston is offering Cooling Centers to residents who need shelter from the extreme heat affecting our area. The City says it expects to continue operating cooling centers through Wednesday afternoon.

The following Multi-Service Centers will be open as cooling centers over the next few days, with the following hours of operation:

  • Magnolia MSC: 7037 Capitol St. 77011Mon - Wed 7:00am - 9:00pm
  • Mon - Wed 7:00am - 9:00pm
  • Sunnyside MSC: 9324 Cullen, 77051Mon - Wed 8:00am - 7:00pm
  • Mon - Wed 8:00am - 7:00pm
  • Denver Harbor MSC: 6402 Market Street, 77020Mon - Wed 6:30am - 9:00pm
  • Mon - Wed 6:30am - 9:00pm
  • Northeast MSC: 9720 Spaulding, 77016 Mon - Tues: 8:00am - 9:00pm Wednesday: 8:00am - 6pm 
  • Mon - Tues: 8:00am - 9:00pm
  • Wednesday: 8:00am - 6pm 
  • Acres Homes MSC: 6719  W Montgomery, 77091Mon - Wednesday 8:00am - 5:00pm
  • Mon - Wednesday 8:00am - 5:00pm
  • Kashmere MSC: 4802 Lockwood, 77026 Mon - Tues: 8:00am - 8:00pm Wednesday: 8:00am - 7:00pm
  • Mon - Tues: 8:00am - 8:00pm
  • Wednesday: 8:00am - 7:00pm

Residents can also go to public City facilities such as libraries, multi-service centers, and Parks & Recreation facilities during their normal business hours to cool down.
