McALLEN, Texas (AP) — Three men linked to a South Texas stash house must each severe nearly 22 years in prison for holding Mexican immigrants for ransom. Julio Vargas-Hernandez, Gustavo Morales-Manriquez and Osiris Bulos-Gonzalez of Edinburg were sentenced on Tuesday. Two of the men will face deportation proceedings after they finish their prison terms.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Immigration attorneys say mothers with children are being released on bond more quickly from immigrant detention centers in Tuesday. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesman Richard Rocha confirms ICE will generally not detain mothers with children if they meet certain criteria. ICE opened two detention centers in Texas after tens of thousands of migrant families crossed the Rio Grande last summer.
