Hands-free cell phone ordinance now in effect in Sugar Land

For drivers in Sugar Land, today's the day to put your phones down while behind the wheel. The Hands-Free Devices Ordinance starts today.

Drivers must use either a hands-free device or have your device in Bluetooth mode while driving. Basically you need to keep both hands on the wheel at all times.

Devices include phones, PDAs, MP3 players, laptops, game devices, pagers and more.

According to the Texas Department of Transportation, one out of every five crashes involves a distracted driver.
