Google employee from Houston found dead in San Francisco Bay

A Houston-area valedictorian who was working for Google is found dead in California under suspicious circumstances. The young Google engineer grew up in Spring.

23-year-old Chuchu Ma is remembered at Klein Collins High School for being among the brightest. It was no surprise when she went on to to become a developer at Google. However, it is certainly unexpected that her body was found floating in the San Francisco Bay.

This is just about the last thing anyone expected to hear about the 23-year-old.  She was discovered dead by a bicyclist, naked and face down in San Francisco Bay last week.

"We're talking to family.  We're talking to friends.  We're talking to acquaintances," explains Captain Shawn Ahearn with the Sunnyvale Dept of Public Safety. "We're trying to get a picture of what was occurring up to that point and beforehand."

Ma was the Klein Collins High School Class of 2012 valedictorian and a graduate of UT Austin.

It wasn't a shock when the girl who's smile was as bright as her intellect then went on to become an engineer for Google and she moved to California for the job. However, her untimely bizarre death has now stunned people all over the country.

Google released this statement saying "Chuchu was an excellent Software Engineer in our developer product team.  We are devastated to learn of her passing."

It was the 23-year-old's boyfriend who reported her missing the same day her body was discovered.

"The boyfriend is here visiting since the Thanksgiving holiday.  That's all we're going to release right now because that's part of the investigation," explains Captain Ahearn.

Klein ISD released a statement saying, in part, "The Klein family is heartbroken. We're sending our deepest condolences to her family and friends."

An autopsy was performed on Friday but the results likely won't be released for several weeks.
