Galveston correctional officers accused of assaulting inmates
What we know:
A spokesperson for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) says two correctional officers are being accused of two separate sexual assault cases.
One female inmate claimed she was assaulted by two officers at Hospital Galveston. Both of those officers have since been "relieved of duty" as the TDCJ and the Office of the Inspector General conduct investigations.
The spokesperson then confirmed another inmate claimed she had been assaulted by officers at the beginning of the year. The second incident was made months after the first incident was reported.
For the second case, one of the alleged officers involved was named directly, and two others were described. The officer who was named and one of the officers who were described allegedly matched the officers accused in the first incident. Both officers are on leave.
The third officer is said to be off duty for a separate reason.
Both incidents are each under criminal and administrative investigations.
What we don't know:
The accused officers have not been named.
