One student was taken to a hospital after falling ill in a Tomball-area corn maze. Twenty-five seventh grade students from Salem Lutheran School were going through the maze when one girl began having trouble breathing. She was taken to Tomball Regional Medical Center and is in stable condition. The other students felt itchy and were showered and treated at the school.
The National Sexual Assault Hotline experienced a 147 percent increase in calls on Thursday. The Houston Area Women's Center saw its sexual assault call rate double in a 48-hour period.
The City of Houston has contracted with drone pilots to map 140 miles of ditches, bayous and reservoirs. The mapping will help officials plan for flood control projects and for the next tropical system.
After a woman found a dog near death on the side of the road, she took the black Labrador to a veterinarian, only to find out that surgery would cost more than $10,000. The woman raised $7,500 on GoFundMe and her friend, Houston Astros starting pitcher Dallas Keuchel, picked up the rest of the tab. He's also adopting the dog.
Students from the Humble Independent School District are planning on building tiny homes for homeless military veterans. Today, the district broke ground on the first home.
