The couple that once broke hearts after being forced to live in separate nursing homes has been reunited.

Wolfram Gottschalk, 83, and Anita Gottschalk, 81, have been together for 62 years.

The couple's granddaughter, Ashley Kaila Bartyik, said in a Facebook post, "Wolfram has finally been moved to the same facility as Anita at the residene at Morgan Heights. The reunion saw tears of joy for all involved."

In a video shared by Bartyik, the couple can be seen greeting each other with a kiss and a lot of smiles.

They were placed in separate nursing homes for nearly a year due to backlogs in the system. A heartbreaking photo posted by Bartyik spurred the couple's reunion.

Bartyik also said, "Although they are now reunited, the story isn't over for other BC couples waiting to be together, and our family will continue to advocate for these families as well."
