Decorating deals ahead of the holidays

HOUSTON (FOX 26) - The time to buy holiday decorations is now. There are plenty of deals, but they change on a weekly basis, or in some cases, daily.

Shopper Denise Grant is smiling because she just snagged a deal on a Christmas tree.

"We went through Harvey," said Grant. "Everything in our garage was destroyed, so we're trying to start over again." She bought a flocked tree, valued at $179, marked down to $79.  It was part of a weekly Flash Find deal at At Home stores.

Each week, At Homes stores offer specialty items marked down from 30-to-50 percent off. The Flash Find deals change each Wednesday.

All retailers offer decorating deals during this time of year. You can find them in store or online. Price- saving coupons are common, especially during the run-up to Thanksgiving.

"Most people like to decorate the day after Thanksgiving...get the tree up...sales for outdoor decor picking up strong over the next couple of days and weekend," described At Home store manager Steve Myers.

Many stores are already sold out of some clear outdoor lights and some have sold out of the giant 20-foot inflatables.

While you might see an army of nutcrackers now, by next week, they may have marched off the shelves to someone else’s home.
