Chase suspect suffers broken leg, other injuries after crashing on Bissonnet

A man accused of leading Houston police on a high speed chase early Sunday morning faces felony evading charges – as soon as he gets out of the hospital.

Police say officers tried to pull the driver over at South Main and Orem around 1:15 a.m. Sunday for a traffic violation, but he took off. HPD eventually spiked his tires, but authorities say he kept going on the rims. He lost control on Bissonnet and slammed sideways into a tree, where he had to be extracted by HFD Heavy Rescue.

He suffered a broken leg and other injuries. Two passengers in the car were released. A third was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine.
